Pennant Race

April 5, 2007

Dear Parents,

We invite you to help your child participate in an exciting opportunity offered by NASA.  Students across America are invited to draw a pennant that will be displayed on the space shuttle Endeavor during this summer’s mission.

We explained the process during library time today.  The pathfinder below is to help you understand the contest and to help your child enter.  We will be able to look at entries from students across the nation and vote for the one we like the best along with other students.  Wouldn’t it be great to see your child’s entry along with all the others?

The pathfinder is also on the school website, under students/pathfinders/1st grade.  If you access it from there you will be able to click on the links instead of typing them into your browser.

Follow these links for information about the NASA pennant race for students.

Genetic Disorders

If you do not have your Hillsborough County Public Library card with you or we do not have it on file, these Web sites will help you find some information on the genetic disorder you are researching.  If you have your library card, you might want to check some of the online databases such as the Health and Wellness Resource Center.

Note – You can access most of the Just for Kids section of www.hcplc.org without your card. You can’t go to Bigchalk Library. You can probably find some useful information under Homework … HELP, especially using Fact Monster.

*Make sure to search only within the health directory for your topic, and not on the Web as a whole.
